Trac your Game Development
Game development is a difficult beast at the best of times. Sharing ideas, files, code, tracking bugs, milestones and releases with people in your team across the world isn't easy. At Mod DB we believe Trac is a great solution for many of these problems, with its agile and best-practice focus. It rolls subversion a wiki and bug tracker into one to create a brilliant web-based management system for even the most complex projects. With Trac you can embed images and files on wiki pages, then link this content through to bugs and code in your subversion repository - to ensure everyone on your team knows what everyone else is working on.
The Benefits
The hard part is setting up and running your own trac installation. It requires python, a database and svn to all be working, in-sync and configured. This takes time, not to mention a lot of server space, bandwidth and hardware and while some hosts may handle two of these three requirements, they usually don't provide all and are never tailored towards the needs of game developers. We aim to change that by providing pre-configured trac and subversion systems for you to use as you please. And unlike the Google and SourceForge options, trac is fast and agile and can be as private or public as you need it to be.
